
KEY TO HOLLYWOOD
The Capital District Key Club Board is preparing the 2008 Capital District Key Club Convention at the Richmond Marriott, Richmond, Virginia to be held April 18- 20, 2008. The Richmond Marriott staff is working along with the District Board to make the convention an outstanding event. Tentative plans for the weekend include a “get acquainted” dance on Friday evening. The committee is planning several motivational programs, informational forums, and other “fun” activities on Saturday including a walk for “Nothing but Nets”. The Governor’s Gala Dinner and Dance on Saturday night will be a highlight of the convention. Seating for this will be assigned on a first registered basis. To be registered, all forms and money must be in. The convention will end on Sunday morning with the installation of the 2008-2009 District Board.
As you enter the Friday evening Opening Session, you will be greeted by our band of Superstars and be transported to Hollywood. This year’s theme will be accentuated by the Hollywood and movie motif and décor. Be prepared to put your own “STAR” in the Key Club Walk of Fame.
The highlight of the opening session will be the keynote program of David Parker, a well known motivational speaker, who will speak on the magical message of friendship. David will also be giving 2 programs for students on Saturday. Last year’s format of an entire curriculum for adult advisors will be repeated with a different cast of characters !
After the Saturday morning General Session, there will be several forum and workshops conducted by District Board members. Students will be able to participate in the oratorical , essay and talent contests. There will be an outdoor walk to promote the “Nothing but Nets” project followed by a Pizza lunch at no charge In addition to the motivational and educational experiences of the convention, attendees will be involved in the election of the 2007-2008 District Officers. Award winners will be announced for the various individual and club competitions that will be judged during the convention at the Governor’s Gala on Saturday night.
